2021 Queensland: Mount Isa Mines Rodeo; Barrel Racing

Barrel Racing events for ladies and juniors. Competing against the clock the rider guides the horse around a clover leaf pattern of three 205L drums. Time penalties are imposed for knocking over the drum or running in an incorrect pattern. Time is taken by an electric eye to the 1/100 of a second. The main reason for me going to this rodeo was for the opportunity to get some interesting action shots with riders and horses. Hugely disappointed then that I was prevented from using my 400mm telescopic lens on my camera. I was restricted to use of a lens not more than 200mm but the best that I had to fall back to was 105mm. So, for the great majority of these photos I have had to zoom in and crop the image quite a lot, so the photo resolution is not nearly as good as I would have liked.
